North East
There are more than 46,000 VAT-registered businesses in the North East, with manufacturing, business services and the public sector as the dominant sectors in the region. In addition, One North East, the region’s development agency, has identified the following sectors as key regional priorities:
- chemicals
- automotive and aerospace
- food and drink
- healthcare
- renewable energy and environmental technologies
- defence and marine
- knowledge intensive business services
- commercial creative industries.
This means these are areas of current economic importance to the region.
Our aim is to help businesses in the region save money through resource efficiency. To do this we often work with partner programmes such as Business Link North East to ensure businesses receive the support they need.
