Small Business Support

Small and Medium Enterprises are important to the Scottish Economy, representing 97% of Scotland's businesses. It is recognised that without intensive support, many small businesses do not have the resources to improve their environmental performance. The Small Business Support Programme aims to provide free assistance to Scotland's small business community in order to realise cost savings, new sales, reduced risk and competitive advantage through improvements in resource efficiency.

Since April 2008 the Small Business Support Programme has assisted 246 small businesses through FREE onsite support focusing on opportunities to reduce waste production, packaging, raw material and water use. To date we have identified potential savings within small Scottish businesses of over £1.7 million by eliminating 9,484 tonnes of waste from landfill, and reducing 75,686,000 litres of water and 5.9 million KWh of energy
