Small and Medium Enterprises are important to the Scottish Economy, representing 97% of Scotland's businesses. It is recognised that without intensive support, many small businesses do not have the resources to improve their environmental performance. The Small Business Support Programme aims to provide free assistance to Scotland's small business community in order to realise cost savings, new sales, reduced risk and competitive advantage through improvements in resource efficiency.
Since April 2008 the Small Business Support Programme has assisted over 170 small businesses through FREE onsite support focusing on opportunities to reduce waste production, packaging, raw material and water use. To date we have saved Scottish Businesses over £1,141,317, by eliminating 6,276 tonnes of waste from landfill, and reducing 56,002 m3 of water and 3.5 million KWh of energy.
