Implementing resource efficiency projects has enabled health and beauty retailer, Boots UK Ltd, to realise cost and environmental benefits throughout the supply chain.
The benefits include: transport and disposal cost savings of £393,000 in the first 18 months following the introduction of a new design for a free-standing display unit, the introduction of plastic bottles with a 30% recycled content has avoided the use of 20 tonnes of virgin material and saved £2,100, and supplier savings of over £20,500 in transport costs over three years by installing baling machines in warehouses.
