EN952 A review of water use in industry and commerce: a summary report 2009

In June 2006, Envirowise commissioned a study of water consumption by industry and commerce to update a previous study in 2001. This phase 1 study focused on the food and drink sector and looked at other industrial sectors on a limited basis. In 2008, phase 2 of the study was commissioned, with the objective of producing water consumption totals for all industrial sectors and particularly the five highest consuming sectors. The main aim of the project was to produce accurate and reliable data on water use within industry and commerce in England and Wales, providing a clearer picture of the sectors and regions that use the most water. The results of the project are summarised in this report.
