Manufacturers and engineering firms in the East Midlands are being encouraged to sign up to a unique series of waste-busting workshops, being run by sustainability experts Envirowise and hosted by Toyota Manufacturing UK.
A launch event takes place at Toyota's construction plant in Burnaston, Derbyshire on Wednesday 24 June, where attendees will be asked to provide baseline environmental data on their company. Envirowise experts will then be on hand to work through a bespoke six-month action plan on how to improve resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact. This will be followed by a tour of the Toyota site, where companies can gain inspiration from the work that the manufacturer has done to address sustainability issues.
Organisations that sign up will be invited to attend a further workshop in October, which will provide detailed support in addressing water and waste issues, before a follow up event in January 2010 in which participants can evaluate the effectiveness of the measures they have implemented and take expert advice on environmental action going forward.
