Event alert: Design for a greener future

Sustainability experts, Envirowise will host a free interactive workshop in Aberdeen this November, which will involve taking products to pieces in a bid to save pounds.

Envirowise is offering companies in the design and manufacturing industry the chance to find out how by adopting simple but effective eco design principles, they can achieve significant cost savings, comply with regulation and improve their competitive advantage.

Companies in the area are invited to bring along their products for Envirowise experts to disassemble and demonstrate where they can save money, reduce waste and help the environment by applying more sustainable design practices.

Robbie Weir, Envirowise programme manager for Scotland said:

"Aberdeenshire businesses could be missing a trick when it comes to their environmental plans and the cost savings they could achieve as a result. Scottish companies which have already taken advantage of Envirowise’s expertise and attended events like this one have collectively achieved financial savings of almost £13 million over just one year1, a figure most businesses can't afford to ignore.

"Following the success of our events programme this year so far, Envirowise will discuss the topic of eco design and offer delegates analysis on practical packaging and design, as well as an update on current legislation. We can't reiterate enough to local businesses how important sustainable design really is.

"Envirowise is calling on Aberdeen’s designers, engineers, environmental representatives and local authorities to take full advantage of the advice on offer to help them gain competitive advantage in an increasingly challenging marketplace."

The practical workshop will be held on Thursday 20 November from 8.30am until 1.00pm at Robert Gordon’s University, Aberdeen.
